1. Project Background

1.1 Timing

This 4000 mm fully automatic EVA waterproof sheet extrusion line was installed, commissioned and signed off at the Sichuan customer’s plant in September 2026. From arrival on site to commercial production, the schedule was compressed but met in full, allowing the customer to immediately apply for the CRCC supplier qualification and begin bidding on rail waterproofing contracts.

1.2 Location

Sichuan sits at the south-west hub of China’s transport network and is a flagship node of the Belt and Road initiative. The Chengdu–Chongqing high-speed rail, the Sichuan–Tibet railway and the Chengdu metro expansion are all in active construction, driving sustained demand for locally manufactured, CRCC-certified EVA waterproofing sheets. This line is the customer’s new flagship asset dedicated to that pipeline.

1.3 Customer Profile

The end customer is a south-west China waterproofing manufacturer that has historically served rail, metro and tunnel projects. To move up the value chain and qualify for direct CRCC procurement listings, the customer committed to commissioning a line that meets the most recent CRCC QCR standard for both product performance and manufacturing process automation.

2. The Three Customer Challenges We Solved

Challenge 1 — Manual batching made recipe consistency impossible

Conventional EVA sheet production relies on operator-driven weighing and dosing. Batch-to-batch recipe drift is unavoidable, and that drift directly breaks CRCC’s incoming-raw-material-consistency requirement.

Challenge 2 — Slow die adjustment on a wide sheet

At 4000 mm width, holding 1-3 mm thickness with rapid recipe changeovers is brutal on conventional expansion-bolt automatic dies: response is sluggish, the control window is narrow and the energy cost is high. EVA’s high-frequency recipe switching simply outpaces that hardware.

Challenge 3 — Heavy, manual rolls failed CRCC out-of-factory inspection

A 4000 mm wide, 1-3 mm thick EVA roll is heavy. Manual loading, unloading and weighing drives labor cost up and roll-weight accuracy down — and roll-weight error is exactly what CRCC inspects at the gate. The line had to be unmanned at the winder to close the CRCC automation loop end to end.

3. The Jwell Solution — Engineering Highlights

3.1 Twin-main-engineer co-extrusion platform

A primary JWS150 extruder paired with a co-extrusion JWS150 delivers a stable 4000 mm sheet at a rated 1600 kg/h with thickness freely adjustable between 1 and 3 mm. This is one of the few lines in south-west China that simultaneously satisfies CRCC’s width and throughput requirements.

3.2 Purpose-built for CRCC QCR

The entire line was engineered against the latest CRCC QCR certification framework. Recipe control, extrusion parameters, thickness tolerance and roll-weight accuracy all carry margin against certification limits and feed directly into the supplier-audit dossier — shortening the customer’s path to a CRCC vendor number.

3.3 Highlight 1 — Fully automatic batching

An automatic bag-opening system, large-volume storage silos and high-precision gravimetric weigh feeders form a closed-loop batching cell. Manual dosing is removed from the floor entirely; recipe is locked at the control panel. Recipe drift — the largest historical risk to CRCC consistency — is engineered out.

3.4 Highlight 2 — Dual-head mechanical servo die with gauge feedback

The line-mount dual-head mechanical high-precision servo actuator drives die lip adjustment, with the in-line thickness gauge feeding a real-time closed loop. Compared with the conventional expansion-bolt automatic die, the Jwell servo delivers:

Dimension Expansion-bolt automatic die Jwell dual-head mechanical servo
Response speed Slow Fast
Thickness control range Narrow Wide (covers full 1-3 mm)
Energy consumption High Lower
Recipe changeover agility on a 4000 mm sheet Limited Agile
Thickness tolerance stability Floating Tightly bounded by gauge feedback

3.5 Highlight 3 — Unmanned roll winding

The automatic winder performs auto-loading, auto-unloading and auto-weighing on every roll. Across the 4000 mm wide / 1-3 mm thick product matrix, this delivers precise roll-weight control and removes the operator from the heaviest workstation on the floor — closing the last remaining manual step between the recipe cell and the CRCC finished-goods gate.

3.6 EVA-specific screw design

The screw geometry is tuned for EVA. Plasticization is uniform, venting is sufficient and the cross-linking risk that EVA carries at high temperatures is suppressed — protecting mechanical consistency at 1600 kg/h.

3.7 Line-level intelligent control

A single PLC coordinates batching, extrusion, zone heating, three-roll calender speed, haul-off speed, servo die adjustment and automatic winding. All parameters are interlocked in closed-loop control, all events are logged, and the entire data stream is exportable into the CRCC audit record.

5. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CRCC QCR standard for EVA waterproof sheets?

CRCC QCR is the latest procurement and certification standard issued by China Railway for EVA waterproof sheets used in high-speed rail, metro tunnels and underground infrastructure. It enforces recipe consistency, thickness uniformity, mechanical performance and full-process automation / unmanned-operation traceability across the production line.

What are the specifications of this 4000 mm EVA line?

It runs dual JWS150 main extruders in co-extrusion configuration, producing 4000 mm wide EVA sheets at a thickness adjustable from 1 to 3 mm and a rated output of 1600 kg/h.

How does Jwell’s dual-head servo die compare with expansion-bolt auto dies?

Jwell’s dual-head mechanical high-precision servo delivers faster response, a wider thickness control range and lower energy consumption than expansion-bolt automatic dies — enabling agile switching across the 1-3 mm range on a 4000 mm wide sheet.

Why does CRCC certification require unmanned winding?

Large-format EVA sheets at 4000 mm width and 1-3 mm thickness produce heavy rolls. Manual loading, unloading and weighing introduces weight variance that fails CRCC out-of-factory inspection. Jwell’s automatic winder performs all three steps automatically, removing variance and enabling unmanned shift operation.

Which applications is this line designed for?

EVA waterproof sheets for high-speed rail subgrades, metro tunnel linings, underground utility tunnels and other CRCC-scoped transportation infrastructure.

6. Project Outcome

The Sichuan 4000 mm EVA waterproof sheet line is a milestone case for Jwell in rail-transport waterproofing equipment. Combined with the automation trio — automatic batching, servo die adjustment, unmanned winding — the customer now has the manufacturing capability to qualify for the latest CRCC supplier listings and bid directly on Chengdu–Chongqing HSR, Sichuan–Tibet railway and Chengdu metro waterproofing tenders. The project also validates Jwell’s process-automation maturity under the CRCC QCR framework and reinforces our benchmark position in rail-grade waterproofing extrusion equipment.
