PET & PP Packing Strap Production Line

Two Straps, One Trusted Manufacturer

Jwell provides complete production lines for both PET and PP packing straps — the two most widely used strapping materials in global logistics and heavy industry.

PET Packing Strap

Also known as plastic-steel strap, PET packing strap is made from crushed and recycled PET materials as the main raw material. It is a new environmentally friendly packing material that is currently popular worldwide as an alternative to steel strip and steel wire strap.

  • Tensile strength comparable to steel strapping
  • Made from recycled PET bottles — eco-friendly & cost-effective
  • Rust-proof — will not damage packaged goods
  • No sharp edges — safer for workers to handle
  • High elasticity retention — maintains tension during transit
  • UV-resistant options for outdoor storage

PP Packing Strap

PP packing strap is a lightweight and environmentally friendly packing strap made from PP as the main material. It is used for fully automatic strapping machines, semi-automatic strapping machines, manual strapping machines and more — suitable for strapping cartons or pallets weighing several kilograms to hundreds of kilograms.

  • Lightweight — reduces shipping costs
  • Compatible with auto, semi-auto & manual machines
  • Economical for medium-duty applications
  • Available in various colors and embossing patterns
  • Easy to thread and join with buckles or heat-sealing
  • Wide application across logistics and light industry

Complete Production Process

Jwell provides fully integrated PET/PP packing strap production lines covering every stage — from raw material feeding to finished coil winding. The entire line is controlled by a computer PLC system for fast, efficient, and low-cost operation.

1. Raw Material Drying

PET flakes or PP granules are fed into a dehumidifying dryer to remove moisture, ensuring defect-free extrusion and consistent strap quality.

2. Extrusion

Dried material is melted in a single-screw extruder and extruded through a die to form a continuous flat or round strap profile.

3. Cooling & Shaping

The extruded strap passes through a water cooling tank for rapid solidification, then through shaping rollers for precise dimensional control.

4. Stretching & Orientation

Hot-stretching in an oven aligns polymer molecules, dramatically increasing tensile strength and elasticity. This is the key step for performance.

5. Embossing & Texturing

Embossing rollers create surface patterns for better friction grip and joint strength when used with strapping machines and seals.

6. Winding & Packaging

Finished straps are automatically wound into coils of specified length and weight, then packaged for shipment or direct machine loading.

Used For

Applications of PET & PP Packing Straps

From heavy industrial bundling to everyday logistics packaging — Jwell’s strapping covers it all:

Steel & Metal Industry

PET plastic-steel strap replaces traditional steel strips for bundling steel coils, pipes, and metal profiles — lighter, safer, and rust-proof.

Lumber & Building Materials

High-tensile PET straps secure lumber, bricks, tiles, and construction materials for long-distance transport and outdoor storage.

Logistics & Warehousing

PP straps are the standard for carton and pallet strapping in logistics centers, warehouses, and e-commerce fulfillment operations.

Paper & Printing

Both PET and PP straps bundle paper rolls, printed materials, and cardboard — without rust marks or surface damage.

Food & Beverage

PP straps secure food cartons, beverage cases, and bottled goods — food-grade options available for direct contact applications.

Textile & Cotton

PET straps compress and secure cotton bales, fabric rolls, and textile packages with consistent high tension.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about PET & PP packing strap production and Jwell’s equipment solutions.

What is the difference between PET packing strap and PP packing strap?

PET packing strap (also called plastic-steel strap) has higher tensile strength and better elasticity retention, making it ideal for heavy-duty applications replacing steel strips. PP packing strap is lighter, more economical, and best suited for medium-duty applications such as carton strapping and pallet securing with automatic or semi-automatic machines.

What raw materials are used for PET packing strap production?

PET packing strap is primarily made from crushed and recycled PET materials (such as post-consumer PET bottles), which are washed, dried, and pelletized before extrusion. Using recycled PET significantly reduces raw material costs and supports circular economy goals. Virgin PET resin can also be used for premium-grade straps.

Can the same production line produce both PET and PP straps?

PET and PP straps require different extruder configurations and processing temperatures, so they typically run on separate lines. However, Jwell can design dual-purpose lines with quick-change screw and die assemblies for customers who need flexibility. Contact our engineering team for a tailored solution.

Why is PET strap called plastic-steel strap?

PET strap is nicknamed plastic-steel strap because its tensile strength approaches that of steel strapping while being lighter, safer, and rust-proof. It can replace steel strips in most heavy-duty bundling and securing applications, offering comparable performance without the risk of injury from sharp edges or corrosion damage to goods.

What types of strapping machines are compatible with PP packing strap?

PP packing strap is compatible with fully automatic strapping machines, semi-automatic strapping machines, and manual strapping tools. It is the most widely used strap type in logistics, warehousing, and manufacturing due to its versatility across different machine platforms and cost-effectiveness.

What is the production capacity of Jwell’s PET strap production line?

Jwell’s PET strap lines typically produce 1–4 straps simultaneously with line speeds of 80–200 m/min per strap. Daily output ranges from 2 to 12 tons depending on strap width, thickness, and line configuration. High-speed models with 4-strap output are available for large-scale manufacturers.

Is PET packing strap environmentally friendly?

Yes. PET packing strap is a new environmentally friendly packing material. It is made from recycled PET materials, reducing plastic waste and supporting the circular economy. As a replacement for steel strapping, it eliminates rust pollution, reduces transportation weight (lowering carbon emissions), and is itself 100% recyclable after use.

What are the typical specifications of PET and PP packing straps?

PET strap: width 9–32 mm, thickness 0.5–1.5 mm, tensile strength 300–800 kg. PP strap: width 5–19 mm, thickness 0.4–1.0 mm, tensile strength 80–300 kg. Custom dimensions are available based on customer requirements.

What industries use PET and PP packing straps?

PET straps are widely used in steel, lumber, brick, paper, cotton, and heavy machinery industries for bundling and securing heavy loads. PP straps are commonly used in logistics, e-commerce, food & beverage packaging, electronics, printing, and light manufacturing for carton and pallet strapping.
